Hello there,
Some of the ITP students had a poker session yesterday evening, and as a last man smiling I am compelled to gloat even further. (I won the second round in Texas no-limit, lost the first one, because I had bad luck – only way to lose…)
I also beat the KY and HSE poker champion Lauri Ahonen, and continuing the long tradition of poker player trash talk (read his blog at http://yksinvaltias.kyweb.fi/2008/03/14/all-in-ahonen-takes-down-finance/ where he even compares himself to Cinderella!) I am happy to anounce that by simple logical reasoning, I must beat all of the people in finance subject club tournament, because I beat the guy who beat the others!
So, you might be wondering about the secrets of good poker playing. Here are 3 of mine:
1. – (*)
2. – (**)
3. – (***)
* You really think I’d tell my best secret?
** You really think I’d tell my second-best secret?
*** You really think I’d tell my last secret?
Ok, here’s one tip anyway: Never fold on the turn card, and never on the 2nd turn card.
(For those who don’t know the poker slang, “turn” is the fourth card and “2nd turn” is the fifth.
With kind regards to those whose money I acquired,
Tuomas T. Hämäläinen
PS But I just got lucky this time- that’s gambling! (Poker is all about luck.)
